Emcien is a privately held company. It was founded in January, 2002 by Dr. Roy Marsten.

Radhika Subramanian Chief Executive Officer and Chairman

Ms. Subramanian is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. She has over 14 years experience helping large sophisticated organizations optimize their business processes and achieve greater levels of success. Most recently Ms. Subramanian co-founded Idmon Corporation along with Dr. Roy Marsten. In 2001 the company was successfully sold to the Swiss Air group.

Dr. Roy Marsten Chief Scientist and Founder

Dr. Marsten is a well respected specialist in computational optimization. Over the past 32 years he has consulted with many industry leading companies including American Airlines, US Department of Energy, GTE Laboratories, UPS, Cray Research, Ford Motor Company, Unocal and many more.

Dr. Marsten received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from UCLA in 1971. He has served as a professor at Northwestern University, MIT, the University of Arizona, and Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Marsten has published over 30 refereed articles in scholarly journals.

Dr. Marsten was awarded the Beale/Orchard-Hays Prize for Excellence in Computational Mathematical Programming by the Mathematical Programming Society (Amsterdam, 1991). This is the highest award for Mathematical Programming and is awarded once every three years by the International Mathematical Programming Society. Dr. Marsten was also a finalist for Franz Edelman Award in 1993 – "COLDSTART – a Fleet Assignment model for Delta Air Lines". This is the highest award for the practice of Management Science. The application saved Delta Air Lines over $100 million per year.

Russ Caldwell Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Caldwell joined Emcien with over 20 years experience in the software industry. He has held key engineering positions with Microsoft, Harris Corporation, Elixir Development and Dun & Bradstreet Software. Most recently Mr. Caldwell was co-founder and CTO of Novient, Inc., an innovative software company that pioneered the first optimization software solution for the services industry. While there, Mr. Caldwell designed and patented the key technologies that set Novient apart from its competition. Novient was sold to Solution 6 and is now owned by ADERANT.
